Written in May of 2004 by Michael J. Hayes.
The young man joined the prayer circle...
One by one, they pleaded for the Lord's mercy.
The young man began his prayer: "Heavenly Father..."
Then he pleaded to the Lord for relatives;
Some of whom had passed through the veil long ago.
Plea after plea, until he was done...
Upon the end, all celebrated in fellowship.
Unfortunately, truth suffered in the joy;
That evening, one of them died.
The young man fell to his knees, crying: "How could I?"
"How could I put truth in such disrepair;
All for such tantalizing sweetness of charity?
I don't know the state of the dead man's faith!
Because I disgraced the truth — cared more for friendship!
More than...You — the Most Holy Perfect God!!!"
Doubt and loss may have escorted him -
I pray this is not the case.
If it is, O Lord, then break my heart;
Leave it with a sore, so that the lesson will always remain.
In His Name, AMEN!
