Novi Heritage Festival

Rapunzel puppet: "Oh no! She'll see you! Hide!!!!"

Puppet shows were just one of the many attractions that could've been seen at the Novi Heritage Festival on June 19th.

Located near 12-Mile and Meadowbrook Roads, the MSU Tollgate features a variety of natural attractions, including wildlife at its best.

Basket weaving opportunities abounded at the festival, and there were bunnies on display.

Wanna pet a sheep? They had several around for children to pet if so-inclined, and there were even baby goats present.

For some, the event made for great fishing weather.

As if that weren't enough to get attendees, there were shepherding dog demonstrations all throughout the day.

Lady: "Any activities that are family-friendly..."

And sure enough, there were plenty of those, including tractor rides, and feeding the sheep.

Overall, it was a great day for the whole family.

July

In July, music concerts, parades, and competitions were the happening thing. Farmington Idol, Stars in the Park, and more were big events.

Miss Farmington Pageant

In their own way, many of the girls at Miss Farmington 2010 were rocking it out.

But they found time for the contest's formalities as well.

A very-crowded Farmington Civic Theater hosted the event, as friends and family eagerly sought to see the town's new ambassador be declared.

The girls made what they could of their time on stage, in-between host speeches, as they sought judicial approval.

Hugs and friendly competition were the rule that evening.

Along with the models themselves, guest singers also featured.

Woman: "One of these, wonderful young ladies, will be our new Miss Farmington for 2010."

And the crown wasn't the only prize waiting.

First Cara....

And later Mickelah...

Were honored with lesser prizes in appropriate categories.

But clearly, the biggest winner that evening was Jenny Fernandez. She would go on to win Farmington Idol just two days later, proving that she has a capacity for winning all around.

Jenny: "I just put my own twist on it."

August

August was a time of a lot of concerts. But not a lot of slides. The Swinecopter was proposed as a new station mascot; but was turned down by the director.

September

September was a fairly quiet month, with only a handful of events going on.

The Longacre Ghost Hunt

The Longacre House in Farmington Hills, with its 19th-century architecture; attracts many community events, including a monthly cooking show. And what’s not to like about its beautiful surroundings?

Well, what if it attracts…ghosts???

There has been one documented ghost sighting; but is anything else going on in this serene monument?

Other than a few strange scents; the dead are apparently not that interested. But that didn’t stop the Ghost Hunters of Southern Michigan from having a look anyway.

In the meantime, they shared their chilling tales of past experiences with an amused crowd. Some of the specters they’d captured in the past were mildly amusing. Others…

…were not so friendly.

Overall, it was a spooky good time for everyone.

November

With elections out of the way, things began to get very quiet at SWOCC. There was an ad needed for the Farmington Hills Facebook Page. The Novi Ice Show was the most happening event in November. There was also a video special made for Paralyzed Veterans' Day. Community Connection got an episode that Dozerfleet was involved with.

December

The Farmington Hills Facebook Page had its ads broadcast in this month, just a short while after they were produced in the prior month of November. With the internship effectively over, the founder of Dozerfleet had only until the middle of December to wrap things up and clean house. A final episode of Community Connection was shot, and then it was time to wrap up and leave for good.
